25.01 – 18.02.2023 In the Museum and Exhibition Center of the Museum of History of the City of Kyiv, an exhibition of modern art “Seeing Dreams” was held, which featured Anna Kryvych’s painting “Motanka. New millennium!” together with the creative reflections of 32 artists on the subject of dreams and delusions. What do Ukrainians dream of every night nowadays? A peaceful future in your native country? Warm memories of the pre-war years? A delicious dinner at mom’s kitchen or the son’s first uncertain steps? Or maybe the last words of a brother or the wildly piercing whistling of rockets?
For some, dreams are an opportunity to hide at least for a while from the terrible reality, and for some, they return to those places and events that they would like to forget forever! This project invites visitors to plunge into the fascinating, and sometimes terrifying, worlds of dreams and the subconscious.
It was interesting for us to analyze and trace these emotions in the works of artists, because an artist always feels more subtly and has the tools to express it in his works”, – shared the curators of the exhibition Olena Yermolenko and Valery Leshchynskyi.
